MODS tutorials
The database MODS is built on is the Microsoft Jet engine, available in all distributions of MS Windows. It’s also the engine the program Microsoft Access is built on.
The Jet engine is a really poor database, that scales poorly to a multiuser scenario, but it has a few merits which made it my choice;
- it’s file based (needs no database running on a server)
- it needs no additional installs on the client side and
- it still works in a multiuser environment.
A key advantage is that you can connect to the database using standard Microsoft Products such as Excel and also generate maps using MapPoint.
Additional information such as examples and tutorials will be made available in the future.
