Linux on Windows

Fiddling with installing Linux under Windows10.  You need 64 bit Windows, which I guess we all have on computers bought the last few years.

I started following this guide from Microsoft. After that you have a Ubuntu shell.

Key is to enable the Windows subsystem for Windows.

In PowerShell, run: Enable-WindowsOptionalFeature -Online -FeatureName Microsoft-WindowsSubsystem-Linux

Then install Ubuntu from Windows store by following this link.

I set up an account (which is a “local” account that has nothing to do with the Windows account).
